With a view to creating interest in Astronomy and Space Science among the people of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Astronomical Society was founded by a group of Astronomy enthusiasts in their meeting held on November 12,1984 in the office of Bangladesh Institute of Distance Education, Dhanmundi, Dhaka and an Adhoc Committee was formed with the following persons present in that meeting :
